SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2017

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the MTS exam each year. More than 6 million candidates have applied for 8,300 Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff MTS posts in the country advertised by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

The proposed dates for SSC MTS Paper 1 (first part) of the examination are April 16, 30 and May 7, 2017. The competition is going to be stiff, so candidates need to make a clear-cut strategy to be able to crack the exam.

SSC MTS 2017 Exam Stages

The selection process of SSC MTS Exam essentially includes three stages.

1st Stage: Paper 1 Written Exam (Objective Type) (200 Marks) (Pen and Paper Mode)

2nd Stage: Paper 2 Written Exam (Descriptive Type) (50 Marks) (Pen and Paper Mode)

3rd Stage: Skill Test / Typing Test (candidates who qualify the tier-2 exam will be called for Skill Test / Typing Test)


SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2017

The written exam will consist of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 2 will be of descriptive type and will be qualifying in nature and will test candidates’ elementary language skills to be suitable for the post. Candidates will be required to write a short essay/letter in English or any language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution. Only candidates who are shortlisted from among those appearing in Paper 1 will be allowed to appear in Paper 2.

About SSC MTS Paper 1

Paper-1 will have four sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 Questions), Numerical Aptitude (25 Questions), General English (50 Questions) and General Awareness (50 Questions). Each question will carry one mark.

Scoring well in Paper 1 is of paramount importance as candidates for each State/UT will be finally selected based on their performance in this paper, subject to their meeting basic qualifying standards fixed in Paper 2. The Paper 1 exam will be objective in nature. Candidates should keep in mind that there is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

About SSC MTS Paper 2

Paper 2 will be descriptive in which the candidate will be required to write short essay/letter in English or any one language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution. Paper 2 will only be of qualifying nature and is intended to test elementary language skills in view of re-categorization of the post as Group-C and in view of job requirements.

SSC MTS 2017 Last Stage

Tier Final Stage of SSC MTS Exam will be Skill Test / Typing Test which would be of a qualifying nature.

Typing Test will be conducted for those candidates who qualify in the Written Examination (Paper 1) and Descriptive Exam (Paper 2). Such Typing Test will be conducted in English or Hindi and candidates while applying for the Examination, will have to indicate his/her choice/option for Skill Test Medium in the Application Form

The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Paper 1 and Paper 2 only.
