SSC MTS Reservation Criteria

There is a provision of reservation in SSC MTS for candidates who meet the specified requirements. Those applicants, who wish to claim the benefits of this provision, must gather all relevant information regarding the matter. For availing the SSC MTS Reservation benefits or a favour of age relaxation, candidates will be required to submit necessary SC / ST / OBC / disability certificate, issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format, before the specified date.

Failure to provide such documents will ensure that the claim of the candidate is not considered. The format of such certificates can be found on the official website of SSC. Certificates submitted in any other format will not be entertained. Candidates must not attempt to provide fake or forged category certificates, as part of their applications, to obtain the benefits of SSC MTS Reservation scheme. Anyone found guilty of doing such a thing will be permanently banned from taking the examination.

Reserved Categories

  • It must be noted that candidates belonging to categories of SC, ST, OBC and PH, and who get selected on their own merit without any relaxed standards, will be accommodated against the general or unreserved vacancies. This adjustment will be based on their overall rank in the SSC MTS 2016 merit list. Such candidates will not be able to enjoy the share of reserved vacancies.
  • SC, ST, OBC and PH candidates, who have a rank lower than that of the last General candidate in the merit list, will be the ones who fill up the reserved vacancies. They must fulfil all eligibility criteria and be suitable for appointment even after taking into consideration the relaxed standards.
  • For candidates falling under the category of Ex-Serviceman, it will not be considered a relaxation when the term of military service rendered by them is deducted from their age.

Tie Breaker in SSC MTS

In cases where more than one candidate secures the equal aggregate marks, the tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another:

  • Candidate with the higher marks in Part-III of the objective type paper.
  • Candidate with the higher marks in Part-II of the objective type paper.
  • Date of birth, i.e. the candidate older in age gets preference.
  • By referring to the alphabetical order of the names taking first name into consideration.

Note : Success in the examination confers no right of appointment unless government is satisfied after such enquiry as may be considered necessary that the candidate is suitable in all respects of appointment to the service/post.  The Commission may maintain a reserve list for each State/UT valid for one year from the date of declaration of result or publication of the Notice of the next recruitment, whichever is earlier.
